Class Editor Notes / Scratch Pad

Suggestion for Colgate Class Editors

Here is a new version. On second thought, we don't really need to explain the transition. Who cares?
Let's get right into the news with the limited space available. Here is a paragraph of news.

I feel fine being "Co-Editor" for now, to not upset Linda with a surprise firing.
We still need her to allow me to be an Admin of the Facebook group.

Subject: Re: 1978 Class Editor How many years for Linda? Do I use Colgate78@Gmail.com (present) or Editor@Colgate1978.com (new)

Hi again, Rick,

I believe Linda set up Colgate78@gmail.com herself. You're welcome to reach out to her and ask if you can take over that email address. Unfortunately, I never heard back from her when I checked in to see if she'd like to continue being class editor, which is why I reached out to you. Many class editors do set up specific email accounts to receive class news updates, so just let me know what you decide to do. I'll also include that physical address in your magazine contact info.

Also, I know you've mentioned gathering news through social media, such as Facebook a couple of times. I'm not sure if you've had time to read through the Class Editor Guidelines document I sent you, but we do have a small policy about publishing news from social media, which I've included below:
Facebook and other social networking sites. Before reporting on information you’ve gathered from Facebook or any other social networking sites, make sure that the person you’re reporting on knows that you’re publishing their news in the Colgate Magazine. Just because that person put the information on Facebook does not mean that they’d like it published in print for all to see.

Thanks,

Rebecca

Hey, Rick. Not too much exciting. Doing what I can to support our classmate Betsy Sweet’s Primary run for Senate here in Maine. She would be a great advocate for the people of Maine. There’s a nice Colgate ‘78 Beta crowd here in New England. The ones I am aware of are: Don Hamill, Garry Dominguez, Garvin Warner, Ted Winston. We’re “somewhat” connected and that web also spins out to Lydia (Williams) Griffin, Will Shaw, Hollis Griffin, Maris Feinman (and my periodic exchanges with you!) Art Skaar is a strong road cyclist and we’ve recently been exchanging messages over the Strava app. Our son Leo’s wife Marni is expecting their 2nd daughter in a few weeks. Take care, Rick!

Betsy, Don, Garry, Garvin, Ted, Lydia, Will, Hollis, Maris and Art will see that they can post on Facebook, or email Editor@Colgate1978.com

I will be assisting Linda Pattillo to make sure our class always has news, use the latest internet technology. That's my business, thanks to Colgate's computer instruction from 1974-1978. We have progressed from the PDP-10 and TECO Text Editor to Microsoft Word to collaborative Google Docs. You can use Facebook, email, or snail mail to send me your latest achievements and news.
